Manning Woman Arrested on Income Tax Charges
Columbia, SC (January 9, 2014) --- SC Department of Revenue investigators today arrested a Manning resident for six charges of assisting in the preparation of a fraudulent tax return.
Vanessa Ragin-Boatright, employed as a tax preparer and college instructor, could face up to 30 years in prison and/or $3,000 in fines.
Without the consent of her clients, Ragin-Boatright knowingly prepared income tax returns using fraudulent figures and itemized deductions for the 2008 tax year. Consequently, Ragin-Boatright’s clients received increased tax refunds to which they were not entitled.
Ragin-Boatright, 48, is currently being held at the Clarendon County Jail and Detention Center in Manning.
