Horry County resident arrested on income tax charges

Yvette Kabray Williams was arrested Monday, March 10, 2014 for eleven counts of income tax related charges

SC Department of Revenue officials charged Williams, 26, with two counts of criminal conspiracy, five counts of forgery, and four counts of willfully making or assisting in the false or fraudulent preparation of tax returns. Williams could face up to 55 years in prison and or fines up to $12,000.

For tax year 2011, Williams provided fraudulent W2s for two co-defendants for wages and taxes withheld from an employer for which they were not employed. For tax year 2012, Williams prepared her return along with two co-defendants using fraudulent W2s and electronically submitted the tax returns along with the W2s to taxing authorities resulting in tax refunds.
