FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 17, 2006
GREER WOMAN ARRESTED ON TAX CHARGES
South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators arrested a Greer woman today for failing to file her state tax returns for a seven-year period.
Helen G. Jordan, 51, was released from the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center on her own recognizance this morning after being charged with four counts of failing to file state tax returns and three counts of state tax evasion. She is accused of failing to file individual income tax returns from 1996 - 2002. The Department estimates Jordan owes more than $7,088 in unpaid taxes for the years she failed to file.
Jordan is facing up to 19 years in prison and fines of up to $70,000 if convicted of all the charges.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office assisted the Department of Revenue in Jordan's arrest.
