SPARTANBURG RESIDENT ARRESTED ON TAX EVASION
Spartanburg, SC…South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators arrested a Spartanburg man today for failing to file his state income tax returns for a nine-year period.
John Mullally, 36, is being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center pending a bond hearing. Mullally is being charged with nine counts of income tax evasion. He is accused of failing to file individual income tax returns from 1996 - 2004. The Department estimates Mullally owes an estimated $9,286 in individual income taxes for these years.
Mullally is facing up to 45 years in prison and fines of up to $90,000 if convicted of all the charges.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office assisted the Department of Revenue in Mullally's arrest.
