The owner of a Florence County Dental Clinic was arrested today and charged with income tax evasion.
Dr. Charles R. Conner, Jr., 59, owner of Pee Dee Dental Clinic, was arrested by South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators and charged with three counts of state income tax evasion. He is being held at the Florence County Law Enforcement Complex pending a bond hearing.
The Department of Revenue alleges Conner failed to file his state income tax returns from 2004 through 2006. The department's investigation showed during that period that Conner had business income of more than $1.6 million and has a tax liability on that amount of $33,570.
He is facing up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to $30,000 if convicted of the charges.
The Florence County Sheriff's Department assisted with Conner's arrest.
