North Myrtle Beach man charged with tax evasion
A North Myrtle Beach man is in jail today after South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators charged him with multiple counts of tax evasion.
Eric Cheston Burdiss, 36, an unemployed timeshare salesman, was charged with five counts of state income tax evasion and is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
Burdiss is accused of willfully failing to file state income tax returns from 2002 - 2006. The revenue department estimates Burdiss has a tax liability of $81,188 on income of more than $1.2 million earned during the period he is alleged to have failed to file. He is facing up to 25 years in prison and fines of up to $50,000 if convicted of the charges.
The Horry County Sheriff's Office assisted in Burdiss' arrest.
