Greenville man arrested on tax charges

Greenville, SC…A Greenville man is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center following his arrest today on a charge of submitting a fraudulent W-2 form to a Greenville County tax preparation service.

Anthony B. Young, 38, is being held after South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators charged him with one count of delivering a false document.

Young is accused of intentionally submitting a fraudulent W-2 form to a Greenville County tax preparation business to have a 2007 income tax return prepared.  The Department of Revenue determined Young did not work for the company shown on the W-2 and he received federal and state funds totaling $7,462.05 to which he was not entitled.

He is facing up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 if convicted of the charges.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Department assisted in Young’s arrest.
