Aiken County Resident Arrested on Tax Charges

Aiken, SC…An Aiken County resident was jailed today following her arrest for state tax evasion charges.

South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators charged Virginia Lewis, 38, with two counts of income tax evasion for tax years 2005 - 2006. She is being held at the Aiken County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.   The Department of Revenue investigation showed Lewis failed to file returns and report $186,792 in income for 2005 and 2006. Her tax liability for 2005-2006 is $10,113.

Lewis is facing up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $20,000 if convicted of the charges.
