Former tax preparer arrested on tax charges
Orangeburg, SC --- An Orangeburg woman was arrested today by SCDOR investigators on three charges of willful failure to file income tax returns.
Finee Brooks, former owner of Computax Tax Service in Denmark, SC, failed to file her income tax returns for tax years 2006-2008, which she was required to do based on her earnings. Evidence obtained by SCDOR revealed that Brooks’ SC income tax due in total for 2006, 2007 and 2008 was $26,070.
Brooks is currently being held at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center pending a bond hearing and if convicted of the charges, could face penalties of up to 3 years in prison and/or $30,000 in fines.
Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest.
