Greenville Chiropractor arrested on tax charges

A Greenville chiropractor was jailed today following his arrest for state tax charges.

South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators charged Dr. Jerry C. Langley of Greenville, with ten counts of failing to file an income tax return for tax years 1999-2008 and ten counts of failing to pay over employee withholding taxes for tax years 2000 through 2009.  He is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

The Department of Revenue investigation showed Langley, a licensed chiropractor, earned income of $595,427 from 1999 to 2008; his state income tax liability for the period charged is $28,728.

Langley is also accused of withholding $14,038 of taxes from his employee’s pay during tax years 2000 through 2009.  Langley failed to pay over the taxes withheld to the Department of Revenue.

Langley could face up to 60 years in prison and fines of up to $200,000 if convicted of the charges.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division assisted investigators with the arrest.
