FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 31, 2011
Monck’s Corner business owner jailed
A Monck’s Corner man was arrested Friday for operation of a retail business without a license.
Mark Otto Moose, owner and operator of Moose’s Famous BBQ, could face up to 30 days in jail and/or $200 in fines if convicted of the misdemeanor.
In early 2011, Moose was notified by SCDOR investigators that he did not have a retail license and needed one to continue to operate his business. Three times thereafter, SCDOR investigators visited the premises and determined that Moose’s Famous BBQ was still operating. Investigators later made two purchases and received a sales receipt for both. Moose had continued to operate business without a retail license ever being obtained.
Moose was released Friday afternoon on bond after being taken to Berkeley County Jail.
