Charleston business owner arrested for failing to pay withholding taxes

Charleston, SC --- Dennis D’Annunzio of Mt. Pleasant was arrested today by South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) special investigators for seven counts of failure to pay withholding taxes. D’Annunzio, 66, could face penalties of up to 35 years in jail and/or $70,000 in fines if convicted of the charges.

D’Annunzio is the owner and operator of Rotomotion, LLC located at 459-C Jessen Lane in Charleston. During 2005-2011, D’Annunzio issued W2 forms to the employees at the end of each year and withheld state income tax from each employee’s gross pay. However, D’Annunzio failed to file the required withholding returns and also failed to pay withholding taxes that were due to SCDOR.

By failing to pay withholding taxes for these seven years, D’Annunzio has an outstanding tax liability of $60,788.98 due to the state.

D’Annunzio is currently being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center in Moncks Corner pending a bond hearing.
