Inman woman arrested for filing fraudulent income tax returns

Spartanburg, SC --- Investigators from the SC Department of Revenue today arrested Dana Michelle McDade for four counts of assisting in the preparation of a false return.

In order to have her 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009 individual income tax returns prepared, McDade presented her tax preparer with fraudulent W2. The forms were then submitted to the SC Department of Revenue which resulted in McDade receiving over $4,000 in tax refunds over the course of these years.

McDade, 33, is currently being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center pending a bond hearing, and if found guilty could face up to 20 years in prison and/or $2,000 in fines.
