SC Dept. of Revenue arrests man for tax evasion
South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators today arrested Rolf Jermaine Allen and charged him with four counts of income tax evasion for tax years 2006 through 2009. Allen was employed by a Spartanburg County manufacturer during the period of the investigation.
For tax years 2007, 2008 and 2009, Allen failed to file SC income tax returns although his gross wages were $213,936. For tax year 2006, Allen’s SC income tax return reflected an inflated amount of SC income tax withheld as well as false itemized deductions. In addition, Allen filed multiple W4 forms with his employer claiming to be exempt from taxation. If found guilty of the four felony charges, Allen could face fines up to $40,000 and/or up to 20 years in prison.
Rolf Jermaine Allen is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
