North Charleston man arrested on income tax charges
Columbia, SC (August 16, 2012) --- Ramon Dowling, a North Charleston resident, was arrested this morning and charged with two counts of assisting in the preparation of a false return and two counts of forgery.
According to SC Department of Revenue investigators, Dowling falsified W2 information on his 2008 income tax returns in order to receive an overstated state tax refund of $698.
Dowling also falsified W2 information on his 2011 income tax returns by altering the FEI number and withholding taxes, therefore receiving in that year an inflated tax refund of $1,326.
For the 2008 and 2011 tax years, Ramon Dowling is facing up to $1,000 in fines and/or 20 years in prison if convicted of the four felony charges.
