Former attorney pleads guilty to tax fraud
Columbia, SC (August 22, 2012) --- Rock Hill resident Timothy Ray Walker pled guilty yesterday to 10 counts of forgery following his arrest by the SC Department of Revenue (SCDOR).
In 2010, SCDOR arrested Walker, 53, on 10 tax charges as he prepared and submitted fraudulent income tax returns to the state. Walker, a formerly licensed South Carolina attorney, filed fraudulent South Carolina income tax returns in order to claim state tax refunds to which he was not entitled.
Judge Lee S. Alford of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit sentenced Walker to three years in prison, three years of probation, and $11,007 in restitution.
