Mt. Pleasant resident charged with forgery

Columbia, SC (November 15, 2012) --- This week, SC Department of Revenue officials arrested a Mt. Pleasant man for one count of forgery.

Jocobra Bennett was taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center Tuesday, and if convicted of the forgery charge, he could face up to 5 years in prison and/or be fined at the discretion of the court.

For tax year 2009, Bennett filed his state tax return electronically using a fraudulent W2 form. As a result, Bennett, 35, received a tax refund of $616 to which he was not entitled.
