Laurens Resident Arrested for Tax Evasion

Columbia, SC (March 25, 2013) --- Van Patterson was arrested Monday morning by investigators from the SC Department of Revenue and was taken to the Greenville County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.

Patterson, a resident of Pinehaven Street in Laurens, was arrested for three counts of failure to file state income tax returns for 2008, 2009, and 2010.  During these years, Patterson earned a gross income that required him to file state tax returns; Patterson currently has a tax liability of $28,088.

If convicted of the charges, Patterson, 48, could face up to $30,000 in fines and/or three years in prison.
