South Carolina Taxpayers: Free Credit Protection Deadline Nears

Columbia, SC (March 28, 2013) --- The deadline for enrollment in Experian’s ProtectMyID is Sunday, March 31 and assistance will be provided throughout the weekend for individuals to sign up for the free, one-year credit protection.

To enroll, individuals have the option to either go online by visiting protectmyid.com/scdor and entering the code SCDOR123, or by calling Experian’s ProtectMyID Customer Service at 1 (866) 578-5422, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am – 8 pm. Individuals are encouraged to enroll online versus over the phone due to the easy process and time efficiency.

DOR’s Data Breach Assistance Team will also be available throughout the weekend to assist individuals with the enrollment process; the team can be reached at (803) 898-7638.  The Data Breach Assistance Team was established to provide taxpayers with information regarding identity protection, and to coordinate with Experian to resolve any issues with enrollment or the fraud resolution services offered through ProtectMyID.

Family Secure

Individuals who claim minors as dependents should also be aware of the Family Secure deadline of May 31, 2013. Individuals must enroll with ProtectMyID by March 31, 2013 to be eligible to enroll any minor dependents by the May 31, 2013 Family Secure deadline.
