Loris Resident Arrested for Income Tax Fraud
Columbia, SC (April 10, 2013) --- The SC Department of Revenue today arrested Andre Dayton Conyers for two counts of tax charges related to income tax fraud.
Conyers was charged with assisting in the preparation of a fraudulent income tax return and forgery. He could face up to 10 years in prison and/or up to $500 in fines if convicted of the two charges.
According to investigators, Conyers, 28, submitted a fraudulent W-2 form to a tax preparer in order to have a 2011 income tax return prepared and submitted to the SC Department of Revenue. Although he did not work for the employer indicated, Conyers’ W-2 form alleged that he earned $15,300 in wages and had $688 in state taxes withheld.
Conyers, a resident of Goretown Loop in Loris, fraudulently claimed state and federal tax refunds totaling $5,929.
Andre Dayton Conyers is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Conway where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
