Moncks Corner Resident Arrested on Four Fraudulent Tax Charges
Columbia, SC (April 23, 2013) --- An individual was arrested today by SC Department of Revenue officials as a result of a tax refund scam investigation in the Charleston, SC area.
Quinton Washington, 36, was arrested and charged with two counts of assisting in the preparation of a fraudulent tax return and two counts of forgery.
Washington, a resident of Moncks Corner, submitted income tax returns for 2008 and 2009 using fraudulent W-2 information, and claimed tax refunds totaling $5,702 and $5,330, respectively, to which he was not entitled.
If convicted of the four charges, Washington could face up to 30 years in prison and/or up to $1,000 in fines.
Washington is currently awaiting a bond hearing at the Al Cannon Detention Center in Charleston.
