Pickens County Man Arrested on Tax Charges
Columbia, SC (May 3, 2013) --- Valentino Oglesby, a resident of Central, SC, was arrested Friday on felony income tax charges.
SC Department of Revenue (DOR) investigators charged Oglesby with five counts of income tax evasion for tax years 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. He is being held at the Oconee County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
The DOR investigation showed Oglesby earned income of $449,260 during the five tax years investigated by DOR; Oglesby is accused of filing fraudulent W-4 withholding forms with his employer in Oconee County claiming to be exempt from taxation. Due to Oglesby having only $436 of state income tax withheld during 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, his state tax liability for the period charged is $24,564.
Oglesby is facing up to 25 years in prison and/or fines of up to $50,000 if convicted of the charges.
