Woman Arrested on Fraudulent Charges
Columbia, SC (May 3, 2013) --- SC Department of Revenue investigators arrested a Winnsboro resident Friday for filing fraudulent income tax returns for 2008, 2009, and 2010.
Synora Shanette Ramos was charged with three counts of forgery and three counts of assisting in the preparation of a fraudulent tax return in the Charleston, SC area. Ramos, 33, could face up to 35 years in prison and/or be fined at the discretion of the court if convicted.
By filing fraudulent income tax returns and W-2 forms for the time period of 2008, 2009, and 2010, Ramos claimed state and federal tax refunds totaling $18,473 to which she was not entitled.
Ramos is currently being held at the Charleston County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
