Myrtle Beach Man Arrested for Tax Evasion


Columbia, SC (August 20, 2013) --- SC Department of Revenue investigators today arrested a Myrtle Beach timeshare salesman on charges of tax evasion.


Evrett James, 32, was charged at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center with three counts of income tax evasion for tax years 2006 through 2008. For these years, James earned $397,116 in gross income with a tax due of $21,221. James failed to file income tax returns for this period and pay taxes due as he claimed an exempt status.


If convicted of the three charges, James could face up to 15 years in prison and/or up to $30,000 in fines. James is currently awaiting a bond hearing at the Detention Center.
