Spartanburg Jewelry Store Owner Arrested on Tax Charge

Columbia, SC (September 6, 2013) --- Jack Owens was arrested today by investigators from the SC Department of Revenue (DOR) for operating a business without a retail sales tax license.

Owens is the owner of Skatell’s Jewelers on East Blackstock Road in Spartanburg.

Although the establishment’s retail sales tax license was revoked in June of this year, the jewelry store continued to operate and conduct retail sales.

If convicted of the charge, Owens could face up to 30 days in jail and/or up to $200 in fines.
