SC Dept. of Revenue Arrests Greenville Resident
Columbia, SC (September 23, 2013) --- Morris Black was arrested today on three counts of tax evasion charges spanning tax years 2008 through 2010.
Black, 56, filed South Carolina income tax returns in which he was required to do so based on his gross earnings for the time period. However, Black’s income tax returns contained inflated withholding figures, false itemized deductions, and other fraudulent information. Black filed with his employer W4 forms claiming excessive allowance which caused minimum income taxes to be withheld from his pay.
Black currently has an outstanding South Carolina tax liability of $4,643.
According to SC Department of Revenue investigators, Black could face up to $30,000 in fines and/or up to 15 years in prison.
