SCDOR Arrests Woman on Four Tax Charges
Columbia, SC (December 5, 2013) --- SC Department of Revenue investigators arrested Wytisha Ebony Evans of Fair Bluff, NC on Wednesday for four counts of state tax-related charges.
Evans, 35, is facing charges consisting of two counts of forgery and two counts of assisting in the preparation of a fraudulent tax return as she provided fraudulent W2 tax forms to a preparer in order to have 2010 and 2011 South Carolina tax returns prepared.
The fraudulent W2 forms contained inflated wages and withholding information, and Evans requested tax refunds totaling $17,758 to which she was not entitled.
If convicted of the charges, Evans could face up to 20 years and/or up to $1,000 in fines.
Evans has been released on a $10,000 bond from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County.
