Columbia Business Owner Arrested for Operating Without a License
Columbia, SC (December 12, 2013) --- The owner of a Columbia catering service was arrested today for operating a business without a retail sales tax license.
According to SC Department of Revenue (DOR) investigators, Mildred Stovall Houston, owner of Houston’s Enterprise Catering Service, is currently being held pending a bond hearing at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
In May 2013, DOR revoked the company’s license for failing to pay state sales tax. Houston is accused of continuing to operate the business after DOR revoked the license.
If convicted of the charge, Houston could face up to 30 days in jail and $200 in fines.
