Columbia Woman Arrested on Forgery Charges


Columbia, SC (December 23, 2013) --- A Columbia area resident was arrested today for three counts of forgery relating to her 2009, 2010, and 2011 individual income tax returns.


Officials from the SC Department of Revenue charged April Eigner with one count of forgery less than $5,000 and two counts of forgery less than $10,000.


Eigner is accused of filing income tax returns with fraudulent W2 forms, and avoiding paying South Carolina income taxes of $1,339 for those years. In addition, Eigner requested and received refunds totaling $8,173 for the period.


If convicted of the charges, Eigner, 28, could face fines up to 25 years in jail. Eigner is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
