Chesterfield County Woman Arrested for Operating Without a Retail License

Nilaben M. Patel, 53, a resident of Chesterfield County SC, was arrested on June 17, 2014 for operating a business without a retail license.

Earlier this year, Patel’s retail license for the Executive Inn was revoked by the SC Department of Revenue (DOR) for failure to comply with the terms of a payment plan agreement. Patel was advised of the penalties for operating without a retail license but continued to operate the business and make retail sales after the revocation of the retail license.

DOR investigators charged Patel with one count of operating without a retail license which is a misdemeanor. Upon conviction Patel could be fined $200, imprisoned not more than 30 days, or both. She is being held at the Chesterfield County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
