Get your state tax refund in 3 weeks
Take advantage of South Carolina=s newest technology for filing your state income tax return and get your refund back in less than three weeks.
By filing your South Carolina income tax return using SCnetFile or Telefile, you get the fastest refund available in less than half the time it takes to issue a refund from a paper return and you never have to leave your dorm, apartment or house to file your return.
SCnetFile is a new program offered by the South Carolina Department of Revenue which allows taxpayers to prepare and send their income tax return on the Internet. Most resident taxpayers can use SCnetFile, regardless of your filing status or income level. SCnetFile is free. Go online the Department of Revenue=s SCnetFile page at www.sctax.org/scnetfile.html.
Telefile allows taxpayers to use their touch tone telephone to file their tax return. If you are single or married filing jointly, have no children and have less than $100,000 in income, you may qualify for Telefile. Only those that receive the special Telefile instructions package in the mail may file using this method, however.
If you=re expecting a refund, a check will be in the mail in about three weeks, less than half the time it takes to get a refund from a paper return. If you owe additional taxes, you can use SCnetFile or Telefile to file your return any time but you don=t have to send in your payment until April 15.
For SCnetFile or Telefile, you must be a resident of South Carolina and use the same mailing address as you used on last year=s tax return.
Electronic filing is still a popular option for filing your state tax return. Hundreds of tax preparers throughout the state offer electronic filing. Ask your tax preparer to file your return electronically. Again, electronic filing offers a three-week refund.
If you still insist on using a paper return to file your taxes, obtain downloadable tax forms from the Department of Revenue=s web site at www.sctax.org, or call the department=s forms office at 1-800-768-3676.
For more information on SCnetFile, Telefile or electronic filing, call the Department of Revenue at (803) 898-5560.
