Lexington business owner arrested for not obtaining license

 

Darrel George, owner of Mail Express at 528 Columbia Avenue in Lexington, was arrested today for operating his business without a retail license. George, 47, was contacted several times by Department of Revenue employees since he opened his business in March 1999 to inform him of his obligation to purchase the $50 state license.

George is in the Lexington County Detention Center pending a bond hearing. If convicted, he faces 30 days in jail and a $200 fine.

George resides at 413 Briarcliff West in Elgin.
