Florence County businessman arrested on license charge

       South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators Monday (Sept. 24) arrested the owner of a Florence County business on charges of operating without a retail sales license. 

       Clegg Lamar Greene, owner of Marble Works, Inc., was released from the Florence County Detention Center Monday afternoon on an $800 personal recognizance bond following his arrest on one count of operating his business without a license. 

      Greene, who is a resident of Gaffney, opened his tile business in January. The Department of Revenue contacted Greene in February and told him he would have to close until he registered for a license. However, a recent follow-up investigation by the agency showed he was continuing to operate his business without a retail sales license.

      Greene could be sent to jail for up to 30 days if convicted of the charge.
