SOUTH CAROLINA BUSINESS INFORMATION ONE CLICK AWAY
ONE CENTRALIZED LOCATION FOR LICENSE AND REGISTRATION
A new business owner might need to visit 5 to 10 federal, state, and local government offices. Getting started is now a lot easier for South
Carolina businesses. South Carolina Business One-Stop is open for business on the Internet.
No matter what type of business you're starting you can now log on to www.myscgov.com to find most of your license and registration needs
under one website roof.
The South Carolina Business One-Stop or SCBOS is a collaborative effort between the Governor's Cabinet, several other state agencies, the
IRS, the Municipal Association, the Association of Counties, and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. SCBOS makes registration,
licensing and renewal easier and more efficient than ever before. "This is another step towards making state government even more efficient
and business-friendly," said Betsy Carpentier, Director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue. "We recognize that citizen burden is
not just the tax and fees; it's also the complicated administrative inconvenience," Carpentier added.
SCBOS brings together the information, forms and contacts that businesses need to get going. Just log on to www.myscgov.com . Click on the
business section then click on SCBOS. You'll see an easy-to-navigate list of state agencies. It's one centralized place to go for the information
you need about licenses, registration and renewal - it's that simple. "This service has been tailored to allow small business owners to make the
best possible use of the Internet and government," said Governor Jim Hodges.
The web links are just the first phase. More agencies, more information, and more automation are on the drawing board. "Ultimately, we
envision a question and answer format that will take you through the process, eliminate redundancy, and permit on-line registration, renewal,
and payment," Carpentier noted.
