Taxpayers who have a South Carolina business with offices in the states affected by Hurricane Isabel, or taxpayers whose tax returns are prepared by professionals located in the affected areas, can qualify for the following tax relief: ? An extension of time to file tax returns and pay taxes; ? Suspension of enforced collections of any tax liability assessed by the Department of Revenue; ? A waiver of any penalties due as a result of a tax deadline extension or the suspension of collection activities granted by the Department of Revenue; -more- Page 2 ? Free replacement copies of tax returns destroyed as a result of the hurricane. The granting of tax relief to businesses affected by the hurricane will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Other tax relief may be granted as warranted. Taxpayers who are seeking tax relief as a result of Hurricane Isabel should contact the Department of Revenue at (803) 898-5709.
