Revenue Department offering Sales tax law help for manufacturers
The South Carolina Department of Revenue is offering a workshop designed specifically to help South Carolina manufacturers understand the state's sales and use tax laws.
The daylong workshop is Wednesday, Jan. 29 at the Clarion Townhouse in Columbia. The $95 per person registration fee covers costs for workshop materials, a continental breakfast, lunch and break refreshments. Pre-registration is required and the registration form can be downloaded at the Department of Revenue web site, www.sctax.org.
The workshop is tailored to help manufacturing employees, such as bookkeepers and accountants, understand the basics of sales and use tax law, local options sales taxes, exemptions and exclusions, business personal property taxes, Department of Revenue electronic services and more.
Workshops also will be held for retail businesses on Feb. 5, service-oriented businesses on Feb. 20 and contracting businesses on Feb. 26. Information on these workshops is available at the DOR web site, or call (803) 898-5420.
