S.C. DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE EMPLOYEE APPOINTED TO NATIONAL POSITION WITH THE FEDERATION OF TAX ADMINISTRATORS

Carol Player Named National Chair of the FTA's Motor Fuel Tax Section

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Revenue announced today that Carol Player, one of the agency's senior auditors, has been named the new national chair of the Federation of Tax Administrators (FTA) Motor Fuel Tax Section.

As chairperson, Player will oversee the FTA's Motor Fuel Tax Section, a group that is designed to foster an effective partnership among states, industry, federal and foreign governments in the area of motor fuel tax administration.  She is the first FTA subcommittee chair from South Carolina in over 20 years.

"Carol's appointment as the national chair of the FTA's Motor Fuel Tax Section is quite an honor," said Burnet Maybank III, director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue.  "Over the past 25 years, Carol's demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the area of motor fuel taxes has not only been an asset to the state of South Carolina, but to tax administrators across the country as well.  We're grateful for all that she brings to the DOR and proud of her recent designation as national chair."  

Previously, Player served as vice-chair of the FTA's Motor Fuel Tax Section and as a regional chair.  She has also served as the chairwoman of the FTA's Motor Fuel Tax Compliance sub-committee, where she was responsible for training and teaching government agencies and industry representatives in order to enhance compliance of motor fuel laws and regulations.
