Charleston doctor arrested on tax evasion charges

            South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators today arrested a Charleston doctor on charges of state income tax evasion

            Samuel Clayton Covington, 52, was charged with three counts of tax evasion. Charleston County Magistrate Linda Lombard released Covington on a …. personal recognizance bond.

            Covington is accused of failing to file state income tax returns and report taxable income of more than $23,850 from 2001 – 2003.

            He is facing up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to $30,000 if convicted of all the charges.
