Columbia resident arrested for failure to pay property tax

Columbia, SC…A Columbia man is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center following his arrest today on charges of failure to pay property taxes. 

Ricky Alan Mantei, 56, is being held pending a bond hearing after South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators charged him with willfully failing to pay property taxes in Richland County. 

In 2006, Mantei owned several vehicles and airplanes which were titled and registered in the state of Florida. The vehicles and airplanes were used or stored in South Carolina. Mantei’s legal residence is South Carolina. The subject failed to pay $15,787.00 in tax.

He is facing one year in prison and a fine of $10,000 if convicted.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department assisted in Mantei’s arrest.
