FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Deadline Nearing for Small Business Owners to Contact Revenue Department About Regulations
Small business owners who think a particular South Carolina Department of Revenue regulation poses a hardship on their business have until Sept. 1 to let the department know.
A 2004 law requires the Department of Revenue to review agency regulations to determine if any place an undue hardship on small business owners. If so, the "South Carolina Small Business Regulatory Flexibility Act of 2004" requires the department to take corrective action to reduce the regulation's impact. The department can either rescind the regulation or amend it to reduce the burden it places on small business owners.
The department is currently reviewing its regulations and is interested in hearing from small business owners -- or their employees -- who believe a department regulation poses an economic hardship on their business activities. The department has been accepting comments from small business owners since February and will continue accepting comments through Sept. 1.
Owners or employees can review current department regulations at www.scstatehouse.net/coderegs/117.htm. Comments or suggestions about a regulation can be emailed to John McCormack of the Department of Revenue Policy Section at mccormj@sctax.org, or mailed to
