S.C. DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE WINS GOVERNMENT ALL-STAR AWARD FOR S.C. BUSINESS ONE-STOP (SCBOS) WEBSITE PROJECT

All-Star Award Recognizes SCBOS as One of 50 Groundbreaking Network Projects

COLUMBIA, S.C. Network World magazine has named the South Carolina Department of Revenue a 2005 Enterprise All-Star award winner for serving as the lead project developer for South Carolina Business One-Stop (SCBOS), a comprehensive Web site that allows South Carolina business owners to register and obtain permits and licensing, as well as file and pay taxes.

In winning the award, SCBOS was recognized as one of 50 groundbreaking network projects in the United States and beyond.

"The S.C. Department of Revenue is honored to have been named an Enterprise All-Star winner," said Norman Davis, program manager for SCBOS.  "SCBOS truly represents the positive work that can be accomplished when state and federal agencies and public and private entities work together towards a common goal."

Network World honored 50 outstanding network IT enterprise projects as part of its inaugural Enterprise All-Star awards. Winners were selected from nearly 200 entries by a panel of 13 editorial judges.  Among other criteria, each entry was judged on the scope of the project and how well the nominated company used technology to solve a business problem.  Enterprise All-Star winners represent the best use of technology within nearly a dozen industries, including government, education, finance, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, transportation and more.

"SCBOS is a unique project designed to create a more user-friendly environment for South Carolina business owners.  Countless hours have gone into making the SCBOS Web site project a success and all involved share a commitment to South Carolina businesses and a sincere desire to provide an environment that helps businesses grow and prosper in our state," Davis said.
