Florence County Tax Preparer Arrested

A Florence County tax preparer was arrested by South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators today on charges of delivering a false document and assisting in the preparation of false state income tax returns.

Christopher Van Streett, 52, is charged with three counts of assisting in the preparation of false state income tax returns and one count of delivery of a false document. He is being held at the Florence County Law Enforcement Complex pending a bond hearing.

Streett is accused of preparing false W-2 forms so that he, and other individuals, would receive a larger refund than they were entitled to.

He is facing up to 16 years in prison and fines of up to $6,500 if convicted of all the charges.

Florence County Sheriff Department deputies assisted in Streett's arrest.
