A Greenville County resident was jailed today following her arrest for state tax evasion charges.

South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators charged Shirley Ann Anderson, of Greenville, with seven counts of income tax evasion for tax years 2002-2008. She is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Anderson is accused of filing fraudulent W-4 withholding forms with her employer to avoid having taxes withheld from her wages. The Department’s investigation showed Anderson earned income in excess of $359,000 from 2002 to 2008 and has a state tax liability in the amount of $18,151.

Anderson is facing up to 35 years in prison and fines of up to $70,000 if convicted of the charges.
