GREENVILLE MAN ARRESTED ON TAX CHARGES
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators arrested a Greenville man today at his Fountain Inn job and charged him with failing to file state tax returns for six years dating back to 1997.
Travis Antonia Shaw, 40, of 207 Braetford Lane in Greenville, was released by Greenville Magistrate Judge James Hudson on a $12,000 personal recognizance bond following his arrest. Shaw was charged by the Department of Revenue with failing to file state income tax returns for 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.
Shaw is accused of submitting W4 withholding forms with his employers claiming to be exempt from having taxes withheld from his wages. He then failed to file tax returns for those years and report his taxable income. Shaw's tax liability for the years he is charged is estimated at more than $11,180.
Shaw is facing up to 30 years in prison and fines of up to $60,000 if convicted of all the charges.
