Greenville business owner arrested on tax charges

Greenville, S.C. --- Danny Shell, owner of Flowers by Danny in Greenville, was arrested Friday for operating his business without a valid retail license.

South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators charged Mr. Shell with two counts of Operating Without a Retail License for operating his business during February and March, 2011.

The retail license for Flower’s by Danny was revoked by the Department of Revenue on February 3, 2011.  The DOR investigation showed that Mr. Shell continued to operate after his license was revoked.  He filed Sales Tax returns reporting retail sales made during February and March, 2011.  Mr. Shell is facing up to 60 days in jail and/or a fine of $400 if convicted of the two charges. The Greenville Police Department assisted with the arrest.
