Irmo Woman Arrested on State Tax Charges
An Irmo woman whose husband was arrested on tax charges earlier this year is being held at the Richland County Detention Center today after South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators charged her with failing to file her income tax returns.
Angelyne Patricia Peeples, 54, an administrative assistant with Haskell Heights First Baptist Church, was charged with four counts of failing to file state income tax returns. She remains in jail pending a bond hearing.
Peeples is accused of failing to file state tax returns for tax years 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003. The revenue department estimates Peeples' combined tax liability during that period at $5,150. She is facing up to four years in prison and fines of up to $40,000 if convicted of all the charges.
Peeples' husband, Joe L. Peeples, was charged with five counts of state income tax evasion on Feb. 4. Angelyne Peeples' arrest is part of an ongoing investigation by the department and additional arrests are expected.
