Richland County Man Arrested on Tax Charges

Columbia, SC --- A Richland County man was arrested today by Department of Revenue investigators and charged with forgery and assisting in the preparation of a false income tax return.

Nathaniel Young, of Columbia, is being held at the Alvin Glenn Detention Center pending a bond hearing.  Young took a forged 2010 W-2 form to a local tax preparer and had federal and state individual income tax returns prepared.  The returns requested refunds totaling $7,854.00.

If convicted, Young is facing up to ten (10) years in prison.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Office assisted the investigators with the arrest.
