SC Dept. of Revenue to Host Sales Tax Seminar
The South Carolina Department of Revenue will offer a special sales and use tax seminar in Columbia on Thursday, September 16 designed to show automobile, recreational vehicle and watercraft dealership owners and employees how to collect the state’s “maximum sales and use tax.”
A sales and use tax cap, or maximum tax, is applied to the sale of automobiles, motorcycles, recreational vehicles and watercraft and revenue department employees at the one-day seminar at SpringHill Suites will explain to attendees the state’s tax laws on collecting the maximum tax and reporting it to the SC Department of Revenue.
Tax seminar instructors will show participants how to complete the necessary tax forms and will provide information and instruction on the revenue department’s electronic services that can save dealership owners and their employees’ time and effort. Instructors also will talk about what to expect in a revenue department audit.
The non-refundable registration fee is $60, which includes the costs of seminar materials and lunch. For more information, see attached brochure, call the Department of Revenue at (803) 898-5593 or e-mail TaxpayerEd@sctax.org.
