A Spartanburg County resident was arrested today and charged with failure to file individual income tax returns.

Sandra P. Austin, 41, a professional sales representative, was arrested by South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators and charged with four counts of failure to file a joint state income tax return. She is being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Facility pending a bond hearing.

The Department of Revenue alleges Austin failed to file joint state income tax returns from 2003 through 2006 based on joint gross income of $2,339,161.00. The Department's investigation showed during that period Austin met the filing requirement and had a tax liability of $102,684.00.

She is facing up to 4 years in prison and fines of up to $40,000 if convicted of the charges.
