Sumter resident arrested for tax evasion

Sumter, S.C. --- Herbert June, Jr., business owner of Antioch Detailing of Sumter, was arrested Friday by South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators on four counts of Income Tax Evasion.

For tax years 2005 through 2008 June submitted income tax returns to the South Carolina Department of Revenue indicating he had no taxable income. During the years of 2005 through 2008, he had a taxable income of $313,639 and his tax liability was $18,122.

If convicted of the charges, June could face up to 20 years in prison and/or $40,000 in fines. He is currently being held at the Sumter County Correctional Facility awaiting a bond hearing.

Sumter County Sherriff’s Department assisted with the arrest.
